How to clean inflatable slides?

Inflatable slides come in many sizes and styles. Most are made of very sturdy vinyl that is lightweight but resists tears. To keep these slides in good condition and to prevent the spread of diseases, you should clean these slides frequently. Body oils and oils from tanning lotion, for example, can cause wear if left on the slide, as can general dirt and debris from the lawn. Mildew may also harm the inflatable, and some germs or parasites may remain infective for a while on inflatable equipment. 1. Inflate the slide, and place it on a tarp (to protect the bottom from grass and dirt). Spray down the slide with a garden hose, removing loose dirt from the slide. 2. Apply vinyl cleaner to a soft sponge or directly to the slide. If you don't have vinyl cleaner available, use a solution of mild dish soap with water (use approximately 1 tsp. of soap per gallon of water and mix it in a bucket). 3. Use the soft sponge to wipe down all surfaces of the slide. Apply extra cleaner to areas that are stained or very soiled and scrub until clean. 4. Rinse the cleaner off with a garden hose. Allow the slide to air dry. You may need to use a soft towel to dry off seams and folds because they will hold more water and take longer to dry. 5. Spray the slide with a household disinfectant. Make sure you mist all surfaces with the disinfectant to kill any bacteria or mildew left behind after cleaning. Store the slides dry and out of the sunlight (to prevent damage from UV rays) until the next use. 6. You can find vinyl cleaner suitable for slides at many places that sell pool or boat supplies. Rinsing the slide before cleaning prevents sharp particles (like sand or tiny thorns) from abrading the vinyl when you clean it. Use only very mild soaps and detergents to clean inflatable slides. Never store the slide damp--mold and mildew can damage the material.
